1 - READ THE WORD
Awaking in God
“O Lord, in the morning thou dost hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for thee, and watch.”
2 - Reflect
We tend to lose sight of the importance of having a fluent conversation with God. Many Christians forget to pray daily, or make excuses such as: "I am very tired today, I will do it tomorrow", "I can't find a moment to do it", "my day has been very busy, I will go to bed and this weekend I will go to church". The truth is that any time of the day is a good time to pray. A free moment at work, on the way back home, during some time alone, whatever the occasion it will be valued by our Father.
We may have the busiest schedules of our family, we may feel sick or tired, but it is always good to keep in touch with the word of God. One way to dedicate a few minutes to prayer and reflection is to do it at the beginning of the day. At the moment we wake-up, we can arrange a few minutes to speak with our Father, to say a prayer for the day that lies ahead and to ask for the best advice in order to face our daily activities. Filling ourselves with excuses to avoid speaking with God will lead us further and further away from the self-awareness we must have to behave in a better way, to have greater peace, and to give more affection to our loved ones.
