1 - READ THE WORD
The calm prayer
“And in praying do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their many words.”
2 - Reflect
We have really intense life rhythms and it is often difficult to find the space to speak to God, even worse, when we find the time we can sometimes be a bit distracted. It has happened to me a few times when I am ready for my daily reflection, but some thoughts interfere and seem to be unrelated to what I want to pray about. Thoughts about things to do the next day, obligations at home, and projects i need to develop are all ideas that slip into my meditating space and often I do not know how to silence my mind so I may be present in the right time and place with what I'm doing.
The truth is that time to pray requires an effort of will and discipline, so we can put in order the thoughts we want to share with our Heavenly Father, to prioritize what we want to talk about. Errant thoughts may appear, so it is ideal to be in private and do it in a moment of calm and tranquility. The scriptures should accompany our meditation, incorporating a bible verse in our praise will be a tool to help us concentrate and be present in what we are experiencing. Staying close to God, with a fluid and daily prayer will lead us to peace.
