Surrounding ourselves by those who are with us
“Now that you have purified your souls by your obedience to the truth so that you have genuine mutual love, love one another deeply from the heart.”
1 Peter 1:22
2 - Reflect
We often believe that it is better to surround ourselves with those that complement us or that have the same beliefs that we have. Therefore, we include friends into our group that we think are similar to us, or have similar thoughts to us. We also add those we have known since childhood, and we continue to frequent them when perhaps in adulthood we share nothing more than a story or an anecdote together. Maybe we remain reluctant to the idea of opening our experiences to meet new people because we are afraid of being rejected or of making a mistake with our choice.
As we grow we must unite with those whose energy complements our process, who balances us towards calmness and who empower what we want to work on in ourselves. The people who transform the obstacles or hurdles that we may find in shared teachings and faith. Only when we reach that stage of social need will we be able to see that God is going to bring these brethren into our lives, to help us become better and to share our beliefs in communion. Our Father is the one who binds us together as brethren, so that we may enjoy love and friendship with others. By doing this we will need to find out what value we have for our neighbors.
